Research process
How We Research
Our aim is to turn specifications and product differences into a useful decision: what fits your space, what does not and why.
Define the use case
We start with the reader's problem — for example room size, basement moisture, fan-control compatibility or installation constraints — rather than starting with a list of affiliate products.
Verify important facts
We check manufacturer pages, manuals, compatibility information, warranty terms and technical documentation where practical. Important specifications should not be copied blindly from marketplace listings.
Compare meaningful differences
We look for the features that materially change the buying decision: airflow, motor/control type, dimensions, noise claims, installation requirements, automation, warranty and limitations.
Match products to people
Instead of treating one product as universally best, we explain which use case it serves and which reader should choose another option.
Separate research from testing
If we have not physically tested a product, the article should not imply that we did. When hands-on testing is performed, the guide should explain what was actually tested and what was observed.
Keep important guides current
We revisit priority commercial guides when products disappear, specifications change or a better option becomes available. A changed date alone is not an update.
What we do not do
- Invent first-hand product experience.
- Create fake star ratings or test scores.
- Copy hardcoded Amazon prices that can quickly become inaccurate.
- Hide important drawbacks simply because a product has an affiliate link.
- Assume a product is compatible without checking the relevant documentation.
Sources in individual guides
Where a technical or safety claim materially affects the decision, priority guides should include a sources section or clearly linked primary documentation so readers can verify the basis of the recommendation.
Editorial responsibility
Every published guide should have an accountable WordPress author/editor profile. See our Editorial Policy for the broader standards behind this process.
